The Education committee is happy to report on the many exciting projects:
Wednesday, March 10, will be "Principal for a Day" in all of the Cabrillo schools, when people from the community will have the opportunity to see what it is really like to be in charge of a local school. Our Half Moon Bay Library has trained 18 high school students as tutors. A group, including HMBHS Principal Mary Streshley, is working on a program to help high school students develop the skills needed for 21st century jobs. Amee Godwin is the director of ISKME (Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education), a nonprofit research group based in Princeton. ISKME is dedicated to advancing the ways teachers teach and students learn. Godwin spoke about the Big Ideas Fest 2009 last December, attended by a small group of representatives of the Cabrillo Unified School District. ISKME seeks to challenge and change the ways in which education can be relevant to learning in the post-industrial world.
